Borneo orangutan , or Pongo pygmaeus
Borneo orangutan, or Pongo pygmaeus is a species other than the Sumatran orangutan orangutan. As the name implies, Borneo orangutans living on the island of Borneo, as one of its habitat inTanjung Puting, Kotawaringin western, central Kalimantan. Although pupulasinya more than the Sumatran orangutan, but that does not mean free Borneo orangutan from extinction. Borneo orangutan including one Indonesian endangered species with conservation status is threatened.
Borneo orangutan not much different from his brother, the Sumatran orangutan. Posture higher than the Sumatran orangutan. Borneo orangutan has a posture that is greater than the Sumatran orangutan. Borneo orangutan has a body weight of about 50-100 kilograms were males while females weigh 30-5- kilogram with an average height of 1.5 meters. Reddish-brown colored fur, has a long and strong arms, short legs, and no tail.
Borneo orangutan is an omnivorous animal though prefers plants. food is fruit, leaves, bark, flowers, bird eggs, and insects. Animal is active during the day. They communicate by voice. Regional distribution Borneo endemic animals found only in Borneo (Indonesia and Malaysia). habitat is forests in the lowlands to the mountainous area with an altitude of 1,500 meters above sea level. Borneo orangutan population is daily decreasing because of habitat loss, forest fires, logging, shrinking forest area, as well as hunting and illegal trade.
